Sebenarnya, ini satu salah faham. MAS ditanya mengapa masih menggunakan laluan Rusia-Ukrain tersebut sedangkan beberapa syarikat penerbangan yang lain tidak menggunakannya kerana bimbang keselamatan penumpang terancam(Amerika Syarikat melarang syarikat di negaranya). Walau bagaimanapun, dia tidak patut bertanya begitu pada masa kenalan mangsa bersedih.
